After 2 hours of sleep and a long day of coaching my Next Level 18's boys on Saturday in Palos Heights (just south-west of Chicago), a bunch of us met up at the Loyola-UCLA match at Loyola to see some good volleyball and Milwaukee native Mike Hutz, Loyola's setter (#4). We got to see a great match as Loyola's deceptively small line-up battled UCLA all the way through five games, dropping a couple key points and losing 20-18 in the fifth.

We then headed home, grabbed about 4 hours of sleep, woke up, assembled Team Bradford, and drove to Lakeland College for the "After the Luvin" adult men's tourney.
We won our first two matches, and then had to sit and watch four rounds of play before the playoffs, where we took down COSS, the team hosting the event, and met up with top seeded Team Core in the finals (who you may remember we beat in the finals of the first tourney of the year).
We took the first game in a back-and-forth battle, then lost the second as Core dug everything we threw at them. In the final game, we got behind early and it was just more of the same as we were unable to put a ball away and put together a comeback.
So "second place ain't bad" is what I keep telling myself, but man it stings. Congratulations to the actual champions, Team Core, you earned it.
The Bradford-Core rivalry is now locked at 1-1, so Stay tuned for what I hope will end with a much needed rubber match for us down in Waukegan, IL on the 21st.

p.s.
We all forgot to bring a camera, so I figured I throw up a pic from the beach of Vince and myself because summer's coming soon!
